Our Mission is simple...help kids like Lauren who are affected by unexpected cancer.
We are establishing Lauren's Army as a 501c3.
We have several immediate goals
*Lauren was a lover of all things water - she wanted to study Marine Biology in Hawaii.
We wish to award several annual scholarships to those high school/college students who meet criteria and are as global and ecologically minded as Lauren.
We wish to provide a scholorship to Mote Marine High School Internship Program, where Lauren interned for 2 years.
*Siblings - "No Child Left Behind" Lauren and her younger sister were exceptionally close.
It's devestating to the surviving sibling to have their big sister struck w/ cancer, then lose her.
We wish to award a scholarship to a sibling affected by cancer, like Lauren's sister.
*Cancer Treatment/Bone Marrow Patient - Improve Individual Quality of Stay.
Simple things helped Lauren - daily yoga, excercise bike, skype with friends, interactive bingo, movies, non-hospital gown clothes, visitors, books read to her when feeling bad, music, going outside - simple things make a difference!
*Research is Key: Pediatric Leukemia Research
Longer term goals:
*Camp for Children Affected by loss of Cancer. We were fortunate to attend Camp Healing Hearts, a camp for children who have experienced loss of a loved one to cancer. It was emotional, helpful and for us good to know we are not alone in our deep grief.
*Adventure Buddies (tied to Make-A-Wish).
